Each year, we welcome a new intern who joins us for six months to observe, contribute, and grow. Anouk is researching a topic that may be closer to home than you might think, and she has a personal reason for it. We asked her a few questions.
What are you graduating on?
I am graduating on the topic of burnout, with a specific focus on the loved ones of someone who has (had) a burnout. In my research, I focus on the needs and pain points that loved ones experience during the recovery process, with the ultimate goal of developing a suitable digital design solution.
What is your design question?
My preliminary design question is: "How can I help first-degree loved ones of someone with a burnout provide better support, so they feel more confident and show confidence during the recovery process?"
What is your goal?
I have experienced up close what it is like to be a loved one of someone with a burnout. During the recovery process, I often felt powerless and uncertain, because I wanted to help but did not know how. From that experience, I continued to dive deeper into this topic and made the assumption that more loved ones face the same uncertainties and questions.
What do you hope to learn at Okapion?
At Okapion, I hope to further develop my design and professional skills. I want to improve my Figma skills and also strengthen my presentation and communication skills, especially in clearly explaining and supporting research insights, design decisions, and knowledge gained to colleagues and clients. I also want to gain experience with how projects run within Okapion.
